On May 19-20 the friars at St.
Bridget Friary held a day of recollection. It concluded with other
friars from the region gathering at St. Bridgets from 2:00 4:30
to participate in a presentation regarding a Franciscan approach to
Muslim-Catholic dialog. The speaker was Sr. Elise Saggau, OSF from
the community based in Little Falls, MN. Sr. Elise did a masterful
job of summarizing, and communicating with great enthusiasm, what
she gleaned from a week-long workshop on the same topic.

Please remember the friars at St.
Bridget Friary in your prayers. The friary was broken into on May
20 and again on May 29. Property loss included two computers, an
iPod, digital camera, cell phone and cash. Since friary and church
keys were also taken, all the locks were re-keyed the following
day. Both times, though, the points of entry were basement
windows. No one was home during either robbery.

In an on-going
effort to be ever more mindful of our environment, and better
stewards of the gifts of creation, the friars at St. Bridget Friary
bought a share in a local CSA (Community Sustainable Agriculture.)
Common Harvest is a beautiful organic farm located in Osseola, WI.
John, Patrick, and David visited Common Harvest for a tour and lunch
on April 28. The owners, Dan and Margaret, provided a warm welcome
and were very proud to show off the new barn and the space set aside
for the spirituality center. It was evident that the heart of what
they are about is building community and springs from a rich and
deep value system. Beginning June 19, fresh vegetables from the
farm will be delivered every Thursday to a drop site about five
minutes from the friary. The fresh, organically grown vegetables
will continue through October.
