Admission to Our Formation Program
- Minimum age of 21
- Baptized and Catholic for at least 2 years
- Single, no dependents
- Not older than 40 (there can be exceptions to this)
Positive Signs of a Vocation
1. Educational Development
- Productive self-growth between the completion of high school and admission to our community (further education, job training, or meaningful employment)
- Ability to complete studies for the ministerial priesthood or to obtain certificate or degree necessary to minister as a brother

2. Religious Development
- Personal faith in God and a call to serve in the Church
- Relationship with God characterized by prayerfulness, stability, growth and maturity.
- Reasonably-developed understanding of Christian doctrine and morality
- Awareness of the life and mission of the Church today
- Desire to serve the poor, needy, and marginalized, to live in simplicity, and to find and embrace Christ in all creation
3. Moral Development
- Christian moral values must be rooted in his character and he must possess the personal integrity necessary to live out Gospel values
- Ability to transcend cultural values
4. Motivation
- Desire to live Franciscan life
- Capacity for ongoing conversion in terms of being open and responsive to God’s call.
- Desire to minister in the Church and to serve generously
5. Human Development
- An appropriate degree of personal autonomy and self-direction
- healthy emotional and psycho-sexual development
- A secure identity
- Reverence for creation and other cultures and religions
- The capacity for cultivating interpersonal relationships
6. Physical Health
- The applicant should be in good health and free from chronic ailments
- Physical handicaps are not impediments to acceptance, unless they interfere with community life or preclude being able to minister
- Physically active
7. Financial Independence
- Free from debt
- Payment of educational debt can be negotiated
