Prayer - By: Neil Perry

PRAYER

Romans 8:26-28

Desires all fall away when you are near,
Except the one, which is to be with you.
The heart is filled with love which casts out fear
And there is only one thing left to do:
Utter the single sound the soul can make,
Filled to the brim with what it can’t contain,
Opening blinded eyes made clear awake,
And tasting sweetness after so much pain.
Power that brings the soul into your care,
Moved on the waters, moves now in the heart,
And now there’s nothing else for me but prayer
Not knowing what to say, but keen to start
By praying prayer that I cannot express,
By coming to you in my nothingness.

NEIL PERRY
