Rest In Peace

Fr. Vincent Spinos, T.O.R.

September 27, 1924May 12, 2008

For over half of his life Fr. Vincent ministered among the people of Minnesota. Until he left Minnesota last summer, he provided sacramental help to neighboring parishes in Minneapolis. A Memorial Mass was held at St. Bridget Church, Minneapolis, on May 21st. Over 250 people gathered for the celebration and prominent among them were the members of the Sandkamp family. Fr. Vincent came to know many members of their family during his years at St. Patricks in Inver Grove Heights. The Sandkamp family presented the gifts at the Mass. Many young adults who remember Fr. Vincent from their childhood days at school attended. A fitting tribute to a dedicated friar.

Blessing of Crucifix and Stations of the Cross

Fr. Christopher Panagoplos, T.O.R.

May, beneath azure blue skies, Friars, friends and benefactors gathered on the grounds of St. Bernardine Monastery to bless and dedicate a Crucifix and a set of outdoor Stations of the Cross. The celebration concluded in the grove of Pine Trees with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. A reception for the nearly 100 guests was held on the Stone Patio. The Secular Franciscans from Mary, Queen of Angels Fraternity in Altoona served cold drinks and home-made cookies.

From Fr. Peter Chavez, T.O.R.

Upon reading the March Newsletter, I was attracted to a photo of Fr. Damian, T.O.R. I was returned in memory to 1947 at Highland Hall Prep School. Fr. Damian (Doc) was the infirmarian for the candidates some 32 in number. His kindness made him the most sought person in the Hall. He was available 24/7. I will never forget the time I ate green apples in the backyard, while playing baseball. I got so sick that Fr. Damian had to keep watch over me through the night. Doc Damian will always be remembered for his great spirit, of service, and joy. May he enjoy eternal rest!

Fr. Seamus Corcoran, T.O.R. receives the key to the Church of Immaculate Conception from Bishop Alberto Martinez. This parish was ministered for many years by the TORs in San Stanislao. The outgoing pastor, Juan Aquilino Duarte looks on.
