if you are in possession of the stock certificate:

If you are in possession of a stock certificate, you will need to sign a stock power for each stock certificate that you transfer to The Franciscan Friars, T.O.R. If the stock certificate is registered in two names, both individuals will need to sign the stock power and the stock power must be signature guaranteed. The stock power and the stock certificate should be mailed to Bro. Alexis Nagle, T.O.R. Planned Giving Director, in separate envelopes for purposes of security. Upon receipt, your gift will be acknowledged for tax purposes. If you need a stock power form, please call us.

TAX CONSIDERATIONS

The fair market value of your gift of securities is determined by calculating the average between the high and low stock quotation on the date that the gift is made, multiplied by the number of shares transferred.

Legacy Sponsorship

How Legacy Sponsorship Works

Legacy Sponsorship is a program for people like you who love children and who want to make their love last a lifetime -- and beyond. To become a Legacy Sponsor, you make a one-time, tax-deductible contribution of $5,000 to The Franciscan Friars Legacy Fund. Your gift is invested as an endowment on behalf of your sponsored friar seminarian. The gain on the invested principal is used by The Franciscan Friars, T.O.R. Legacy Fund to provide food, education and other assistance to the friar you designate for as long as he remains in school in preparation for the ordination to priesthood.

You can give cash or receive outstanding tax benefits by contributing an asset such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds with a value of $5,000 or more. How Legacy Sponsorship Keeps On Working

When you become a Franciscan Legacy Sponsor, you will make one of two choices about what to do when your sponsored friar seminarian no longer requires assistance from this fund.

First, you may release the $5,000 principal to the Franciscan Friars, T.O.R. Legacy Fund as a donation to be used wherever the Legacy Fund determines the needs are the greatest.

Second, you may leave the $5,000 as an endowment to perpetuate itself to sponsor another friar seminarian immediately and friars into the future. Even after your lifetime, a sponsorship will be perpetually maintained in your name, as a living tribute to your love and  your deep concern for their needs, and your commitment to putting your love into action.

You are not limited to funding just one Legacy Sponsorship.
